Looking back on episodes 1 – 6 of our Connecting with Purpose podcast we pulled out a few insights about how purpose driven leaders support people in being at their best. Here’s “what they said” – so sit back and enjoy these 5 minutes and consider how well you are replicating some of the same approaches:

Steve Tew:

  • Athlete (employee) wellbeing – better people = better athletes.
  • What kind of programs we can put around players to better prepare for life both around and beyond rugby.
  • It shouldn’t be a compliance thing for the sport, it should be an authentic and organic part of your culture.

Dave Madden:

  • Get the right people on the bus (per Jim Collins, Good to Great)
  • Develop a spirit to never give up and be alright with failure

Kevin Roberts:

“If you don’t know where you’re going all roads with take you there”

  • Everything starts with purpose
  • First you have to know what to do, then you have to know how to do it.
  • Telling is not sharing

Wing Commander Matt Roberts:

“In no uncertain terms, I have got your back and we have got this together”

  • Nothing like the feeling of a crew or team operating at the top of its game
  • If I’m not feeling 100% confident, what hat do these people need from me now?
