What’s your impact?

By Mark Griffin

Regardless of the various roles you play in your life, there’s one really simple but powerful question to ask yourself if you want to be energized, engaged and excited:

To what extent are you being intentional about your impact, at the me, we, and world levels?

This is a core component of Nell Derick Debevoise’s definition of purpose, which she summarizes in this short clip below.

If you’d like to learn a little more about the intersection between purpose and impact and the simple ways to embed purpose throughout your organization as a leader, the full episode of Connecting with Purpose podcast is worth a listen. We both share and apply similar three-tiered approach to impact in our work with PurposeFused and Inspiring Capital.

For me, it’s about inspiring, connecting & advancing:

Me – if I take care of myself mentally and physically, continue to learn and challenge myself with new goals; I can create opportunities that inspire me, connect to people who are aligned with that journey and aspire to go-forward as the ultimate version of myself.

We – if I can inspire people through my words and actions, create and connect them to opportunities (resources, knowhow, people) and coach them on their journey, they can go-forward as the ultimate version of themselves. Hopefully, some of them can go on and do this for others, as we have seen with many young people from Play Rugby USA

World – taking the same approach as “we” above, using technology and organizations as catalysts and amplifiers for individual and collective impact, we can move closer towards creating a world full of people with vitality and purpose. That’s my aspirational dream. Imagine the possibilities then!

What about you?

Take a listen to Nell below and I hope you enjoy episode 7 of Connecting with Purpose.
